Download Firestorm, add Fair Dinkum Grid, create your avatar, and jump in.
Download Firestorm
Firestorm is the recommended OpenSim viewer. Grab the latest build from the official site, install it, then follow the steps below.
Add Fair Dinkum Grid
- Open Firestorm → Preferences → OpenSim (or Viewer → Grid Manager).
- In "Add new grid" paste the Login URI: http://fairdinkum.online:9016
- Click "Apply", then select "Fair Dinkum Grid" from the grid dropdown.
- Create your avatar at /fdgrid/register, then log in with that name + password.
- You'll arrive at Dinkum Central. Say g'day in local chat!

What is OpenSim?
OpenSim is open-source virtual world software — think Second Life-style 3D worlds you explore with a viewer like Firestorm. FD Grid runs on OpenSim, hosted in Australia for the FDS community.
Is it free?
Yes! Creating an avatar and exploring FD Grid is completely free. Donations to FDS game servers unlock optional donor land perks, but they're not required to play.
Do I need a donation?
Nope. Anyone can register an avatar and visit public regions. Donor land is a thank-you perk for active supporters of any Fair Dinkum game server.
How do I get land?
Public regions have rentable areas managed in-world. Donors get assigned parcels through the Donor Land Program — see /fdgrid/donors. Chat to staff on Discord to arrange.
