FDS Arcade Mini Games - Every Action Game Explained
Goals, controls, scoring and one tip for every action and reflex game in the FDS arcade - Galah Flap, Zombie Horde, Horde Escape, Scrap Hunter, Tiger Snake, Tinnie Smash, Outback Flyer, Last Stand and Raider's Run.
The Mini Games tab in the arcade is our reflex-and-action corner - quick-hit browser games you can jump into between server sessions. Log in to play; the leaderboards are public and never reset. Here's the run-down on each one.
Galah Flap
Flap a galah through the gaps between gum-tree pillars - one of ours goes down as a Flappy Bird-style. Desktop: click, Space, Up Arrow or W to flap. Mobile: tap the canvas. Scoring: +1 for every pillar you clear, and the trees creep faster the higher you climb. Tip: tap in a steady rhythm rather than mashing - one flap sends you up, gravity does the rest.
Zombie Horde
Hold the line against a descending 9x4 grid of undead, Space Invaders-style, with 3 lives. Desktop: Left/Right or A/D to strafe, Space to fire (keyboard only - no touch controls). Scoring: walkers 10, runners 20, brutes 40, plus a wave-clear bonus of 100 x wave. Tip: thin out the bottom rows first - if a single zombie reaches your line it's game over, not just a lost life.
Horde Escape
An endless dodger - steer a survivor through gaps in oncoming obstacle pairs. Desktop: Up Arrow and Down Arrow to nudge up or down in steps (arrow keys only). Scoring: +1 for every obstacle you clear off-screen. Tip: it's a no-frills classic with no gravity - line up the next gap early and hold your lane, because the obstacles come at a fixed clip.
Scrap Hunter
A zero-G scavenger in the Asteroids mould - blast drifting scrap rocks, and the big ones split into smaller pieces. 3 ships. Desktop: Left/Right or A/D rotate, Up or W thrust, Space fire. Mobile: on-screen buttons for rotate-left, thrust, rotate-right and fire. Scoring: big rock 20, medium 50, small 100, plus a 100 wave-clear bonus. Tip: smaller rocks are worth more, so don't rush - the screen wraps at every edge, so let momentum carry you and pick your shots.
Tiger Snake
Slither the red dirt, gobble bush-tucker eggs and grow long without hitting the fence or yourself. Desktop: Arrows or WASD to turn (no reversing into yourself). Mobile: swipe the canvas or use the on-screen d-pad. Scoring: +10 per egg. Tip: the snake speeds up with every egg down to a hard floor, so build a habit of hugging the edges and leaving yourself an escape lane.
Tinnie Smash
Bounce a rivet off your esky-lid paddle to smash a wall of scrap bricks, Breakout-style. 3 lives across multiple levels. Desktop: Left/Right or A/D to move the paddle. Mobile: drag anywhere on the canvas to slide it. Scoring: bricks pay 50 + (row x 10), a chip on a tougher brick pays 10, and clearing a level banks 200. Tip: grab the drops - W widens your paddle and M splits the ball into a multiball swarm. Hit a brick with the edge of the paddle to steer the bounce.
Outback Flyer
Ride the thermals in a momentum-based hang-glider and travel as far as you can, dodging wedge-tail eagles. Desktop: hold Space, Up Arrow or W to gain lift, release to dive. Mobile: hold the canvas, release to drop. Scoring: roughly 1 point per 8px of distance, plus +50 for every thermal you snag. Tip: it's about momentum, not flapping - feather your lift to skim under eagles, and chase thermals for both the points and a speed boost.
Last Stand
Defend a campfire (100 HP) through endless nights, twin-stick style - a survivor orbits the fire and guns down incoming animals. Desktop: mouse to aim, hold mouse or Space to auto-fire, P or Esc to pause. Mobile: touch and drag on the canvas to aim and fire. Scoring: crow 15, dingo 25, boar 60, plus a night-clear bonus of 100 x wave. Tip: boars turn up from night three and hit hard - drop them fast, and note the fire heals +12 HP between waves, so surviving the wave matters more than a perfect no-hit run.
Raider's Run
A top-down dungeon crawl - grab loot, clear rooms and descend, Gauntlet-style, with 5 hearts. Desktop: WASD or Arrows to move, J or Space to swipe your melee. Mobile: on-screen d-pad plus an attack button. Scoring: loot scales with how deep you are (coin 10, crate 25, gem 40, all x floor depth), enemy kills are flat (bandit 30, turret 20, spider 12), and each floor you descend banks 50 x floor. Tip: from floor two you need to grab a key before the exit opens - so sweep the room for the key, not just the shiny stuff, before diving deeper for the depth multiplier.
Earning tokens while you play
Every game feeds the same arcade economy. Your first score on a new game each day earns +20 (up to 3 games), beating your own best pays +25 (up to 3 per game per day), a new all-time #1 on a board banks a 500-token Hall of Fame bonus, and the weekly top 3 per game pay 300 / 150 / 75.
