The Last Servo - Home-Screen Game Guide

How to play The Last Servo, the zombie-shooting mini-game living on the FDS home page - shooting, ammo, kill tokens, the guard, Runners and the Bird Boss.

The Last Servo is the interactive 3D scene that plays out behind our home page - and now it has its own full-screen spot in the arcade at /arcade/last-servo, no hero menu on top. It's an outback petrol station at dusk, the dead are shuffling in, and you're the last line before they reach the pumps.

Heads up: this scene is staff-tunable. Ammo counts, kill values, spawn rates and difficulty can all be dialled up or down, so the exact numbers below are the defaults - what you see in-game is the source of truth.

What it is

A light-touch shooter you can dip into any time you're on the site. It runs on WebGL, so you'll want a desktop or laptop browser - on phones or machines without WebGL it politely bows out. Log in and it tracks your kills as an account member; browse as a guest and you can still shoot, you just won't bank anything.

How to shoot

  • Aim by moving your mouse - the crosshair follows your pointer.
  • Fire with a click. Each shot has a bit of spread, so the closer your aim, the cleaner the drop. Staff set an "aim assist" value from rough-as-guts to laser-tight (default is somewhere in the middle).
  • Line up the shamblers before they reach the pumps. Landed hits pop them; misses just burn a round.

Ammo

You've got a rolling pool of 100 rounds per ~20-hour window by default. It's tied to your account, so for members it's refresh-proof - reloading the page won't magically top you up or wipe your count. When the window rolls over, your rounds come back. Pace yourself; there's no reward for spraying.

Kill tokens (members only)

Log in and every confirmed kill is worth 1 arcade token, settled server-side, up to a net cap of 25 tokens per day by default. "Net" is the key word:

  • Kill a zombie: +1 token (up to the daily cap).
  • A zombie escapes past the pumps: -1 token. Don't let them through.
  • The guard steals your kill: that one doesn't count and you lose a point for it - more on the guard below.
  • The Bird Boss is a tougher, 2-hit target; if it gets away it stings for -2 tokens, so prioritise it.
Guests can shoot for fun, but tokens are member-only - no login, no banking.

The cast

  • The guard - an NPC who also takes shots at the horde. If he drops a zombie you were lining up, the kill goes to him and it costs you a point. Read his angles and pick the ones he's not covering.
  • Runners - every 3rd spawn (by default) is a fast "Runner" that closes in quicker than the shufflers. They're the ones most likely to reach the pumps, so hit them first.
  • The Bird Boss - a beefier, 2-hit threat. Land both hits or it escapes and costs you 2 tokens.

Sound

There's a mute button in the scene's own HUD - toggle it any time. Your choice is remembered.
